Applications Engineer (818968)

Our client, a medical device manufacturer in the Twin Cities, is seeking an Applications Engineer to join their team. This role is a customer facing position with new product design engineering combined with business development responsibilities. Projects are often generated by unique customer requirements and demand an extensive amount of direct customer interaction as well as the ability to gain a deep understanding of customer specific needs related to performance, reliability, availability, and cost to develop those solutions. This position is based in Roseville, MN and we are only considering local candidates at this time. The role is primarily on-site with up to 25% travel, as necessary. 
 

Duties
  • Accelerate growth by winning new custom product business.
  • Partner directly with customers to gain and in-depth understanding of their application need and match these needs with a strong understanding of company capabilities to deliver the optimal solution.
  • Responsible for new custom product requirements definition, conceptual product design and proposal, and management of customer expectations from initiation to product delivery.
  • Develop costing and pricing for complex projects.
  • Partner with Sales to present value proposition with an emphasis on technical solution to win new business.
  • Present the company’s expertise, capabilities, and products to customers and sales channel partners.
  • Lead cross functional teams to drive activity aligned with customer needs. 
     

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or electrical preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in (custom) product related engineering
  • 1+ years of customer facing experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Creo, Pro/E, or similar CAD software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in engineering discipline or MBA
  • Design experience in injection molded, machined, and stamped component experience
  • Design experience with fluid handling component
  • Design experience in design of liquid cooling or thermal management
  • Proficiency in FEA and/or CFD modeling
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485
