Senior Custom Design Engineer (818956)

Arden Hills, MN

Our client, a medical device manufacturer of quick disconnect couplings, fittings, and connectors, is looking for a Senior level Custom Design Engineer to join their team in the Twin Cities area at their newest site! This position will collaborate with and support staff/leaders and help provide creative solutions to the client’s short-term and long-term goals, while offering plenty of opportunity for growth and knowledge sharing. The ideal candidate will exhibit drive, resilience, curiosity, and will act as a true team player. This role is a direct hire opportunity. Since the position will be fully on-site, we will only be considering candidates local to the Twin Cities area. 
       
Duties
  • Develop products from conceptualization to launch
  • Collaborates and consults with Test, Manufacturing and Quality Engineers in support of new product development
  • Partner with Sales, Applications, and Marketing to create solutions for diverse OEM markets
  • Maintain a high level of interaction with customers, sales managers, and application engineers
  • Leads or assists in efforts to resolve product performance issues
  • Adheres to all safety regulations
  • Demonstrates support of company’s core values
  • Performs other job duties as required to meet business needs
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • CAD proficiency – PTC Creo, Solidworks, etc.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge and grasp of rapid prototyping techniques and manufacturing methods
  • 5+ years’ experience in design of mass-produced products such as automotive, appliances, toys, etc.
  • Competent in the design and development of plastic components
  • Demonstrated history of design innovation
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills required; must be able to communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and customers
  • Energetic and enthusiastic approach toward the definition of new products, complimented by an educated and realistic business outlook

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in science, engineering, or related field
  • Demonstrated history of working directly with customers to translate their needs into innovative new products
  • Design experience with fluid handling components for industrial applications
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485, medical device, or medical device components
  • Familiarity with RFID, electromechanical devices
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Machining understanding or experience
  • Basic understanding of Finite Element Analysis
