Our client, a well-established provider of customized tooling solutions, is looking for a Continuous Improvement Consultant to join their team on a 1st shift schedule. This person will support all operational excellence efforts within our clients production facilities. This role will lead and support initiatives and projects related to standardization, waste reduction, 5S, daily start-up meetings, value stream mapping, cost savings, flow, audits, and process improvement. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative to identify areas of opportunity and act; as such, they must be confident to model and champion behaviors and actions that create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement, and be comfortable frequently collaborating with Operations, Supervision, and Engineering during and outside of events. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity that will be fully on-site in White Bear Lake, MN, so only local candidates will be considered.

Duties

Participate, assist, and lead kaizen and other improvement events to drive system and process improvement.
Support the implementation and sustainment of process improvement projects.
Create and follow standard work as a basis for structured and organized daily routines.
Facilitate the adoption of continuous improvement as a way of life; foster positive culture change.
Apply and train others in the application of lean tools and methodologies.
Display and be able to train lean leadership behaviors.
Track and document the financial impact of continuous improvement activities.
Proficiently apply and train practical, team-based problem-solving methodology.
Support cooperation, teamwork, and positive working relationships across all functional areas.
Cleaning, labeling, building, light woodwork, painting, 3D printing, or other light fabrication as necessary to support shop 5S.
Monitor and audit CI systems.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree preferred
Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing setting
Strong interpersonal skills required
Strong written and oral communication skills required
Prior lean training is highly preferred
Proven leadership and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and in teams
Competence in computer applications, including MS Suite, and the ability to use technology as a decision-support tool
