Tool & Die Technician

Owatonna, MN

Inginaire is seeking a Tool & Die Technician for their client in Owatonna, MN. This is a Direct Hire position. This position sets up and operates a variety of machine tools and fits and assembles parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties:
  • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair. Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts for defect or to remove defective part. Installs or replaces defective part in mechanisms, machines or equipment with new part or repairs or reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
  • Test operates machine to verify dimensions and alignment of assembly, and conformance of finished work piece to specifications for verification of correction of malfunction.
  • Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications to determine type and dimensions of metal stock required.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to type of operation and specified material and finish.
  • Instructs operators or other workers in machine setup and operation.
  • Changes worn cutting tools and adjusts operation of machine such as cutting speed, feed rate or depth of cut when required.
  • Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Vocational/Technical Certificate/Diploma in Machining/Tool and Die preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience preferred.
  • Ability to use a computer – excel, word processing software.
  • CAD experience preferred.
  • This is a 1st Shift Position
  • General Hours (Flexible start and end times): Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm
  • Benefits, 401k, paid hourly
