Controls Engineer I

Inginaire is seeking a Controls Engineer I at their client company located in Hopkins, MN. This position will perform engineering duties in programming, planning, developing, and testing the controls system and electrical equipment for custom commercial and industrial HVAC/refrigeration equipment.

Duties

  • Attendance at work during regularly scheduled shifts and scheduled overtime is an essential duty.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, specifications and computer-generated reports in order to research, design and evaluate electrical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet customer requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Specify system components or direct selection of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of electrical control systems to ensure that design, installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
  • Understand mechanical HVAC fundamentals including: Pump/fan affinity laws, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and air properties/pyschrometrics.
  • Understand existing and develop custom sequence of operations for various HVAC/R equipment types including: air handlers, refrigeration equipment, pump systems, etc.
  • Operate programming design software to perform engineering tasks including configuring and developing code to create custom programs for HVAC/R equipment.
  • Communicate with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Assist with project production efforts to assure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
  • Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical and control theory to engineering projects.
  • Compile data and write reports regarding existing and potential engineering studies and projects.
  • Investigate and test vendors' and competitors' products.
  • Conduct field surveys and study maps, graphs, diagrams, and other data to identify and correct control system problems.
  • Assist remotely and occasionally in person with factory commissioning of equipment.
  • Assist remotely with equipment start-up.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education : Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) or Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering (B.S.M.E.)
  • Experience : One to three years related experience
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, programming related software skills.
