Software Engineer

Mankato, MN

Inginaire is seeking a Software Engineer for their client in Mankato, MN. In this role you will help design, develop, and deploy software for customized automatic and robotic equipment used worldwide. This is a Direct Hire position.
  • In conjunction with the Engineering team, specify and design the GUI for various automated, semi-automated and robotic machines using Visual Studio, C, C# and SQL. Develop and validate modular, well documented code required to implement the same.
  • Integrate various sub-system interfaces such as vision inspection, ink or laser marking, and electrical testers to develop a single cohesive solution using communication protocols such as Ethernet, USB, RS-232, and RS-485.
  • Provide relevant software documentation related to installation, operation and maintenance of the system to the Technical Writer in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide customer support and machine diagnostics via phone and email for new as well as legacy systems.
  • Understanding of agency certification requirements including but not limited to OSHA, UL, CE, CSA.
  • Communicate deviations and/or project issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Investigate ways to drive down cost of equipment using value engineering concepts.
  • Collaborate with all departments to continually improve and update systems software and design process improvement.
  • Assist other departments with software-specific needs.
  • Learn and support new products and technologies.
  • Attend trade shows and customer-site visits as scheduled.
  • Generate reports as needed for review by management and customers.
  • BS Degree in Engineering or Software Applications plus 5 years of experience, or combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of the following: Visual Studio, Ladder Logic, C/C#, SQL, and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Ability to develop clear and logical graphical interfaces.
  • Ability to understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficient in standard software applications including MS Office, project management software and web-based meetings/communication software.
  • Ability to effectively understand written and oral instructions and communicate both orally and in writing to others to include reporting research results and analysis of information.
  • Ability to work with a team and communicate well with co-workers and customers, including situations where work is fast-paced and deadline-oriented.
  • Excellent organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Desired Experience with:
    1. Allen Bradley PLCs.
    2. Panelview Component HMIs.
    3. Programming and debugging in Assembly (PIC Microcontrollers).
    4. Motion controls.
